Edgar W.Percival created some airplanes specifically prepared for the races (King’s Cup among others). One of them even finished second behind a BF 109 in 1936, another in 1937 reached the speed (exceptional for the time) of 405.5 km / h. Speed€‹€‹, that even the hunters of the time, struggled to reach 🙂
